Recent Downtown Carillon Beach vacation rental reviews

What a cute little spot. The community of Carillon Beach is perfect - a couple places to eat, shop and relax. Love the multiple pools & beach access points and the adorable walkable neighborhood. The condo is JUST enough. King bed is comfortable and everything was clean. The tiny kitchen is kind of hilarious but served our needs perfectly. The ice maker in the fridge was AMAZING. Great view of the pond and community from the balcony. Things I didn't love....but fortunately they are either temporary or fixable: I wish the community center area and Inn lobby weren't being renovated in the high season (this review is in July 2023), but I know how it goes and sometimes that's just unavoidable. I can't wait to see the finished product! Also, the sleeper sofa mattress was atrociously uncomfortable (way beyond the typical sleeper sofa trope) and my son described it as "like sleeping on a chain link fence". I popped over to Walmart and purchased a memory foam topper which fixed it up nicely. The resort would likely have offered to make some kind of correction had I complained, but honestly I didn't know what they could do besides adding a few blankets, and I didn't want to spend a minute more of our short trip trying to coordinate or another uncomfortable night for the kids. Also the kitchen could use to have some of the drinkware restocked. I think some glasses and cups have inadvertently walked off over time. All that said, we loved it and we will definitely be back!!

We had a great week at Deja Vu! House is beautiful - open and airy, kitchen is well-stocked, and we absolutely loved spending time on the covered porches soaking in the wonderful views. Beach access was a private walkway right out to beach! We ate every at-home meal out on the porch. We appreciated that all house wall switches were labelled (sidenote: garbage disposal switch is the only one hard to find - it's under the sink!) Additional useful notes: The walls are very thin. Thus, for any light sleepers in the downstairs bedroom, a sound conditioner may be useful to avoid hearing water flowing through the pipes from upstairs. The house is *extremely* close to its neighbors. Thus, your week's enjoyment will depend a lot on how ultra-considerate your neighbors are noise-wise. It just does not take much for sound to carry (and the next door neighbor's pool is between the houses - sound easily carries upwards as well). There were times we could hear our neighbors even when inside the house. In addition, there is construction going on across the street with a lot of high-pitched saws. We ended up renting 2 bikes. We rode them around Carillon two different times and then felt we had seen everything (nowhere to bike immediately beyond Carillon). If you were renting a house further away from the beachfront, having bikes and/or a golf cart would be extremely useful; however, for us, it was a bit of a waste of money. As other reviewers have mentioned, parking is very tight. We were actually very glad we only had 1 vehicle. We didn't like parking in the short driveway (extremely steep), or in the garage (car almost bottoms out with the grade change from driveway to garage). Instead, we parked in the street in front of the gate until we realized that concrete dust was settling on the car from the saws/construction across the street, so we parked around the corner (hopefully soon, a non-issue for others). For beach-walkers: the beach is not conducive for long walks on the water's edge. There is not much difference between high/low tide and the water has carved out a gully over time such that the sand forms a bit of a ledge at the water's edge. On the flip side, this creates mini-pools which were so fun to float in using the house-provided floats. Also note that the provided beach set-up is 2 slingback chairs w/umbrella at the water's edge and 2 wooden platform loungers w/umbrella set way back on the beach (the 4 are NOT together). Beach service was inconsistent (slow to set-up and some days not everything was provided). Extra beach chairs in the house helped to offset this inconsistency. Hopefully these notes will help others - overall, we truly enjoyed the premises, the beach, and our vacation! Had a wonderful time!
